FAQ's

What is 'esports'?

esports is a form of competition utilizing a multiplayer video game to be played competitively. Most times, esports competitions are played individually, however, some circumstances or competitions may require 'Team Play'.

What video games are played?

VYSA aims to keep its traditional roots in the game of soccer with the launch of VYSA Gaming, so the only video games played in VYSA Gaming are the Officially Licensed EA Sports FIFA games...for now.

Do I have to be a VYSA Member to join VYSA Gaming?

Not at all! The VYSA Gaming program offers an 'Adult League' that is open to ALL individuals who are 18+.  Find out more about 'Adult League' on our Leagues page!

Is there an Age Requirement/Policy?

VYSA Gaming offers 2 types of leagues to accommodate gamers of ALL ages:
- Members League (Only VYSA Members Under 18 may compete)
Young gamers in the 'Members League' will be required to have a parent/guardian approve the VYSA Gaming Waiver to register for competition

- Adult League (Members and Non-Members, 18+ may compete)

*Tournaments and events will have the league and console required to participate, indicated in the Event Information and Rules when posted.

Is VYSA Gaming free to join?

The price to compete in VYSA Gaming competitions will vary per event. VYSA Gaming will clearly indicate on event information, if the event is free of charge or if an Entry Fee is required. Please read the information on the designated event tournament page for each event to see if there is or is not an Entry Fee.

Once players complete a tournament registration, a registration confirmation email will be sent with a PayPal link to complete the Entry Fee Payment. Players will be successfully placed into the tournament pool once the Entry Fee is paid in full. If a player fails to complete the Entry Fee payment prior to the tournament or event, they will not be placed into the tournament pool.

Are competitions just for one specific console?

VYSA Gaming will host tournaments for BOTH the Playstation 4 and XBox One Console, however, all Live Events will be utilizing primarily the XBox One console. Tournament Listings will state the console needed to participate in the online event.

Gameplay Information

We recommend that you play your matches on a LAN connection(wired) instead of WiFi to avoid potential lag and disruptions

Gameplay Settings: Tactical Defending Required, CLUB TEAMS ONLY. Players are allowed to change their team throughout the tournament.

Time: Players are responsible to kickoff their match no more than 7 minutes from their match start time. Failure to do so will result in an automatic forfeit.

Submit Scores: The winner is responsible for submitting their scores.

Lag/Settings: Please report lag and pre-game issues no more than 2 minutes after the match begins.

Disconnections: In the event of a disconnection, you and your opponent must finish the remainder of the match while keeping the score the same at the time of disconnection.

For example, if the disconnection occurred at the 30th minute, a new match will begin and be played until the 60th in-game minute.

When you reach the 60th minute and the ball is no longer in play, the match is over and both players must quit the game.  If you continue to play and goals are scored, those goals will count towards the final result.

We highly recommend recording video of all game footage in case of a dispute

Overtime (Draw): If the match ends in a draw after full time, players will need to restart a new match with the “Golden Goal” rule. (First player to score, wins)
