Volta Review

Every year when EA Sports is preparing to launch a new game they try to make a unique focus for the game’s release. This is seen with EA’s Madden, FIFA, and NBA games with Ultimate Teams and upgraded features as the games continue to annually evolve. EA’s FIFA takes their latest release to another level with the highly anticipated “Volta” game mode.

“Volta” means to ‘return’ in Portuguese and is the overall focus of the game mode, to return FIFA to its street-play roots. VOLTA provides players with a new FIFA experience that is inspired by the indoor/outdoor court style of soccer played across the world. Players have the ability to customize their own character in VOLTA in many different variations. They can select what the player wears, how they run, what their skill set is, and even create their own emote celebration!

Arena locations in VOLTA are also something that doesn’t go unnoticed when playing the game, as you may find yourself playing on the rooftop of a skyscraper in Tokyo, or even a street cage court in Amsterdam.

In VOLTA players have the option of playing a quick “Kick-off” game of 3v3, 4v4, or 5v5 match. These games can be played with or without goalkeepers. The “rushed” version is without keepers therefore providing a fast paced high scoring game. There are 3 additional game modes within VOLTA:

VOLTA Story” gives players a campaign styled story mode where they must win matches with their team around the world. In this story players will learn about the area they are playing in and the history of the game their. Players can add more people to their squad throughout the story mode. The story ends in a championship battle in Buenos Aires.

VOLTA World” provides a different tour-style experience. Players will build up their VOLTA team by playing through Single Player Matches against community generated squads in a variety of formats and locations. After each victory, players can recruit a player from the opposing team and squad up in terms of both skill and chemistry.

VOLTA League” is a phenomenal online experience that matches players teams versus others based off of record and skill level.

Now that you’ve learned more about VOLTA, will we be seeing you hit the streets with FIFA’s newest game mode?
